Books on the Go! The CPRL Bookmobile will be in Vandemere from 12-4 and then in Hobucken from 4-6.

Nautical Wheelers in Oriental, Wine Tasting, 2 & 3p

The Village Gallery welcomes Kevin Fetzer as March’s Guest Artist of the Month. There will be an Artist’s Reception at the gallery from 2 – 5p, featuring Kevin and his work.

Community Prayer for Our Nation, Holt's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, 2 p.m.

Pamlico County Public Library —Photographer and Down in the County author Andrea Bruce gives a presentation of her work (PCHS) (free), 2 p.m.

PCHS Baseball home vs. Ayden Grifton 6 p.m.

Arapahoe Charter School Book Fair/Title I Night with free hot dog/chips 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Blood Drive, American Red Cross at Nutrien Employee Center in Aurora. You don’t have to be an employee to participate.

March 11, Friday

Oriental’s History Museum honors the men and women from Oriental who served in WWII with a new exhibit running March 11 - July 30

March 12, Saturday

Oriental Old Theater, “FY5” Band sponsored by Pamlico Musical Society, 7:30 p.m.

Kid's St. Patrick's Day Party, Stonewall United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, Crafts, games, refreshments, 2-4 p.m.

March 13, Sunday

Caleb Monk travels to Charlotte to compete at the Carolina Panthers Regional Spelling

Pamlico County Public Library, Family Movie Night, 6:15

March 19, Saturday

Oriental Dragon Burn, Red Rooster, A dragon effigy is constructed behind the Red Rooster Bar (located behind the Silos Restaurant). Viewers gather to eat, drink, and listen to music beginning at 5 p.m. This is a ticketed event and membership drive. $25 for individuals, or $50 gets you and your family in the gate and signed as a member for the Pamlico County Arts Council. (Arapahoe Charter School student Jenna Walker has artwork selected to represent the Dragon Burn on promotional t-shirts)

The Oriental Woman’s Club’s 2022 Chowder Cook-off, at the Oriental Marina Harbor. Music this year is from Hoff n Finch. $10 ticket gets you a chance to taste different kinds of chowders and vote for your fave to win the People’s Choice Award. It’s a fundraiser for OWC’s charitable works & community service, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Pamlico County Public Library, Repotting Houseplants (All Ages) 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Oriental Old Theater Classic Theater: Flash Gordon episodes and His Girl Friday, 3 p.m.

PAWS Pet Parade, Lou Mac Park, 11 a.m. Dogs and their humans can register from 10-11a that morning at the Lou Mac Park staging area. The entry fee is $5 per dog.

Pamlico Heritage Center Snapshot Meeting, Stan Allen of New Bern will talk about the history of China Grove Plantation, 7 p.m.

Rallying Round the Polling Station: The People Who Make Our Elections Work

It’s 8 a.m. and the Bayboro polling station is all set up in the unadorned red-brick county courthouse. Polls have been open since 6:30 a.m., but the poll workers showed up about an hour earlier—before the sun—organizing their roles, going over the rules and establishing both the standard and the tempo for the day: accuracy and efficiency.

Reminder: Vote Today!!

Election Day for the Primary Elections is Tuesday, May 17. These elections take place at your local polling place, from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (See below for addresses.) If you are in line at 7:30 p.m., the location must stay open to allow you to vote.
